Radiology so far is better known as a part of medical science that plays a role in supporting examinations. Many imaging modalities used by radiology are widely available in health centers, including X-rays, ultrasound, CT scans, MRI, fluoroscopy, and so on, which have played an important role in supporting the comprehensive management of a disease. In its development, radiology always adapts to technological advances and the needs of society itself. One part of radiology that is currently developing rapidly is interventional radiology, which is a sub-specialty of radiology that utilizes minimally invasive procedures to diagnose and treat diseases of almost all organs of the body using image/photo guides generated from radiology tools (USG, CT Scan, MRI, Fluoroscopy). The advantages obtained in interventional radiology procedures are minimizing physical trauma to the patient (surgical wound size), not requiring general anesthesia, reducing the risk of infection, speeding up recovery time, and shortening the time to stay in the hospital. On this occasion, the Undip Faculty of Medicine Radiology Study Program will hold a guest lecture entitled “Role of Intervention Radiology in Management of Hepatocellular Carcinoma” by presenting speakers who are experts in their fields so that they can help broaden insights and material intended for experts/doctors and PPDS participants who are studying radiology specialists in particular.
Guest lecture activities will be held on Saturday, October 1, 2022 at 14.00 until finished, at the UNDIP Faculty of Medicine Campus, B Building, First Floor in a hybrid manner (offline and online). The guest lecturer on this session was Prof. Dr. Muhammad Azeemuddin, MBBS, MCPS, FCPS. This activity was attended by 66 participants consisting of 17 lecturers and 49 PPDS. Lecture was opened by Dr. dr. Antonius Gunawan Santoso, Sp.Rad(K). Then proceed with the lecture session which is divided into 2 . The first lecture was Introduction to Radiological Anatomy and Imaging Modalities for Imaging of HCC presented by dr. Burhan Zafar as Chief Resident Radiology Department of Aga Khan University Hospital. Then continued by Prof. Dr. Muhammad Azeemuddin, MBBS, MCPS, FCPS with material on the Role of Intervention Radiology in Management of Hepatocellular Carcinoma. After that it was followed by discussion activities. The discussion was interactive with a variety of interesting questions from both the lecturer and PPDS participants. Then the activity was closed by Dr. dr. Antonius Gunawan Santoso, Sp.Rad(K).
